Family and community connection is what made New Lambton FC great and from that, we build our future. Players do not register with New Lambton FC just as a player; hey are part of the New Lambton family – “The Nest”. It is not just about fostering the talent of tomorrow; it is about learning a deep love for football – winning hearts and minds. We are of the firm belief that there is a place for everyone in our Club regardless of ability.
The Arnett’s Program provides children with special needs the opportunity to learn to love the ‘beautiful game’ as much as everyone else.
New Lambton FC sees this as a great opportunity to involve further parts of the community within our club. The program’s aim is to provide Arnett’s (i.e. little eagle) with a chance to be part of a football team/club and similar opportunities and experiences as their ‘mainstream’ counterparts.
There is a diverse player base which covers a wide spread of special needs children, including children with unique genetic conditions, Autism, developmental delays, Cerebral Palsy and even vision impairment. Children from all backgrounds participate in the Arnett’s, including children that live in full-time care, foster children, many indigenous children and a great young man who came to Australia as a refugee from Afghanistan.
Players range in ability, from children that require one on one support to play, through to higher functioning children that can play with direction from coaches and volunteers. Regent Park is home for the Arnett’s, with some exciting improvements planned for this facility.
