NLFC is one of the only Clubs in the NNSW Federation that provides the full range of programs for our members – in other words you can be an “Eagle for Life”
Whether you are a 5 year old MiniRoo / MiniMatilda, an Over 35 player or anywhere in between, whether you want to play socially or competitively, NLFC has a place for you.
Below is illustrated the different football programs offered and their intent. As the diagram indicates, the higher you travel up the curve, as does the level of time and financial commitment.
INTENT OF MINIROOS (we like to refer to our girls as “MINIMATILDAS): Emphasis on fun, freedom of expression and ‘learning by playing’ instead of ‘winning at all costs’. Miniroos is for the players, the role of coaches and parents is to help, teach, stimulate and praise kids for enjoying themselves.
INTENT OF INTERDISTRICT/COMMUNITY: Commencing at Under 12’s, interdistrict football introduces players to a level of competition without the pressure of Premier Competitions. Under 12’s is the first year that finals football is introduced.
INTENT OF ACADEMY / NET: This is the first level of “selected player” football in NLFC. The Developing Eagles program provides selected professional, structured football training, with teams competing in the highest Interdistrict Competition available. This program also requires teams an additional night/week under the supervision of Newcastle Football Technical Director.
INTENT OF Skills Acquisition Program (SAP): The SAP is for the more talented and committed footballers. It is an FFA initiative that is implemented via ‘licenses’ around the country in Premier Clubs. Clubs may have one or two SAP teams in each age group. Players in the SAP program train 30 weeks and play 22 Rounds in a comp comprising of NPL and NEW FM clubs (Premier Clubs).
INTENT OF PREMIER: NLFC maintains a license to compete in NNSW Premier Competitions – Women’s Premier League and League one NEFWM. Highly competitive, semi professional competitions where players in all teams are selected on ability annually. NLFC implements targets that aim to maintain high percentage of Club players in these programs.
